Ground Up Chale and its founder, Glen Boateng, have filed a lawsuit at the High Court in Accra against musician Kwesi Arthur over alleged libel. The suit, filed on 27 January 2026, follows social media posts in which Kwesi Arthur accused the label of unfairly claiming ownership of his image and music, demanding $150,000, blocking his releases, and threatening him. Ground Up Chale says the statements are defamatory and is seeking over GHยข10 million in damages, as well as the removal of the posts, an injunction against further comments, and a public apology. Lawyer for the label, Jonathan K. Amable, has denied the allegations, saying Kwesi Arthur was only restricted from using label-owned visuals and that records show he received royalties. The company says it is prepared to defend the case.
